The rigging process prepares the 3d model for animation. Rigging is essentially adding a digital skeleton to the 3D model for proper manipulation of the mesh. Once the digital structure is rigged, the 3D bones are use to move the character or place it into a desired pose. Previous knowledge of kinematics, inverse kinematics and physics is necessary to deliver smooth quality results.
